Guidance on Short-term Flexible Working
Help the Hospices and Working Families have developed booklets on short-term, flexible working solutions for carers and employers.
From April 2007, carers of adults will have the right to request flexible working. A request can be made once every 12 months. However, for many people, the caring role can be unpredictable and may only last for a short period.
The guidance includes:
- Carers' statutory rights at work
- Additional benefits that employers might offer
- Balancing the needs of the carer and the employer
- Flexible working options that may work on a temporary basis
- Other support for carers
- Real-life examples

Booklets are free for hospices to distribute to carers, and £5 for employers and other organisations.
