Caring for Carers Pack
Caring for Carers is a support and information guide for carers of people with terminal illnesses. It consists of a series of short leaflets. The pack was first published in June 2004, and was most recently updated in May 2008 (see below for details).
Using this guide
Many carers are overwhelmed by being given too much information at one time, so the materials can be downloaded below (or by photocopying the masters) and given out in small sections. Each section has two parts:
- An introductory section for professionals working with carers.
- Information for carers.
A carers' group might find the pack provides a useful central focus for meetings. The pack could also provide a structure for volunteer training.
The most recent version of the Caring for Carers pack can be downloaded:
- Overview.
- Caring Counts Part 1 for hospice and palliative care services.
- Caring Counts Part 2 for carers.
- Money Matters Part 1 for hospice and palliative care services.
- Money Matters Part 2 for carers.
- Caring at Home Part 1 for hospice and palliative carer services.
- Caring at Home Part 2 for carers.
- Nursing Part 1 for hospice and palliative care services.
- Nursing Part 2 for carers.
- Legal Matters Part 1 for hospice and palliative care services.
- Legal Matters Part 2 for carers.
- Death and Dying Part 1 for hospice and palliative care services.
- Death and Dying Part 2 for carers.
- Young Carers Part 1 for professionals working with young carers.
- Young Carers Part 2 for carers.
The Caring for Carers pack can be ordered by ringing 020 7520 8892 or emailing t.sealey@helpthehospices.org.uk. The young carers section is also available as a standalone guide.
